As I’ve accumulated tools and parts, my workshop has grown more complex. Having a well-designed workspace is an interesting intellectual challenge, and I’ve enjoyed evolving my workshop to handle diverse projects.

In fine cooking, there is a concept of “mise en place” where the chef assembles the ingredients beforehand and thinks through the cooking experience. I use this same philosophy to keep the most used tools easily accessible. This is just one part of my workbench:

A younger version of me would probably consider this a bit overdone, but it’s amazing how my productivity has improved.
Pinterest has great ideas as well.
